The days are getting shorter and with lessening sunlight comes a cooling breeze. The leaves are starting to turn and inspire us with rich oranges, reds, and greens. But most importantly, Starbucks has released their famous Pumpkin Spice Latte. It’s officially time to start pulling out your fall gear!
If you’re anything like me though, most of your stuff is in a rubbermaid tub along with all of your winter clothing. So until I have the time to transition my closet, I have to make do with layering what I already have out.
First things first, scarves – you just cannot go wrong with a scarf! Layering two or three thin summer scarves can allow you a thicker, warmer option.
Apparently this season a very popular item is a “Carwash” pleated skirt. If you want to try this but you’re pressed for cash, grab an old skirt and take a DIY approach. Maybe add a loafer to it and you are golden.
No need to put your shorts at the bottom of the pile either! Grab a pair of fun tights or thigh high socks or both and pair them with a laced black boot.
My personal staple in the fall is a flannel. Dress it up, dress it down; wear it with a pair of shorts and chucks or a black mini-dress. The options are endless and it is a piece that will never go out of style.
Do not fear fur in the fall either. It is ok to wear shorts and a fur vest which is one of my favorite ways to incorporate it with some of my fall pieces. I’ll wear a longsleeve t-shirt under a maxi dress with a fur vest. If it’s really chilly, add a scarf? Go crazy with layering people!
If there is one take away from these words I have written down, it is layer, please do not fear it. LAYER YOUR LITTLE HEART OUT! You’ll unlock a whole new world of opportunities from your spring/summer wardrobe that you had no idea existed.
I know what you’re thinking, “I am coming up with all of these new looks and ideas, how am I going to remember them for next fall!” – Do not fret, where there’s a will, there’s Hanger. Your digital closet advisor, handyman, lumberjack, best friend…the very tool that will keep track of all your clothes and the outfits you create with them!
Good luck this fall!
Now lastly I need you to listen very closely: Tweet a pic while you’re wearing flannel to @kasperlorene and @hangerapp with the following hashtags (#ConnectedCloset #Hanger) and I’ll enter you in a drawing for a Starbucks gift card! Because let’s be honest, Pumpkin Spice Latte’s taste much better when someone else is buying them for you!
