ST. LOUIS, MO — GarbShare, the St. Louis fashion tech startup recently named “one of the top 21 most interesting startups” by TechCrunch, announced today it will come out of beta under a new brand – Hanger. The app, which lets users manage their wardrobe, get outfit inspiration and share items with friends, has been in beta since December.
Daniel Evans, Hanger CEO says “The new brand better reflects our focus on personal style and connecting friends within a social community to get the most value from the things they own. Early on, one of our inside memes-turned-goals was ‘no wasted hangers’” – based on the famous line ‘no wire hangers’ from the classic movie Mommy Dearest – “so when we were able to secure the Hanger.io domain, it just seemed like a natural fit.”
In addition to the new brand announced today, the company also has launched its new website Hanger.io along with its new logo and tagline – The Connected Closet. The website also shows some of the user interface you can expect when the app hits the app stores later this month.
“The concept of personal style was a high priority in our design work – particularly within the brand and the app UI,” Ashley Riley, Hanger Director of Marketing says. “Our look and feel is minimalistic in order to provide a foundation for the user to create her own personalized ‘look’ that reflects who she is and how she perceives herself,” Riley says, “It’s not just a gallery for her clothes – it’s a gallery for her STYLE.”
Co-Founder Ed Kniep, who has overseen much of the work added, “We’re thrilled to share Hanger with everyone. Our team has worked extremely hard on this project and we feel passionate about the purpose behind everything it’s built upon. Hanger embodies the same great purpose as GarbShare, with a refined mission and design that we’re ready to share with our users and the world.”
Hanger’s mission is to make users experts in their personal style and inspire confidence in what they wear. The new app release is expected to hit iTunes later this month. For more information visit http://hanger.io/.
